My name is Beau Sorenson. I am a freelance audio professional (producer / mixer / engineer / “etc”) living in California.

As producer / engineer, I’ve worked on multiple albums for Death Cab for Cutie, Bob Mould, Superchunk, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, The Dodos and Mac McCaughan; albums for Tune-yards, Sparklehorse, Mike Krol, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Jars of Clay, Yellow Ostrich, Camera Obscura and Garbage; songs for Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams, Noah Kahan, Real Estate and many more.

I’ve engineered sessions for Aaron Dessner, Chris Walla, Merrill Garbus, Tucker Martine, Butch Vig, John Vanderslice, Dangermouse, Ryan Hewitt and Al Weatherhead, and I’ve worked on records for 4AD, Atlantic, Republic, Capitol, Polyvinyl, Barsuk, Astralwerks, Ninja Tune, Luaka Bop and Numero – plus ten or so releases for Merge.

While music production is my primary focus, I have experience composing audio for picture, producing audio for podcasts, and mastering music for digital release. I have also worked as a studio tech, taught audio engineering, and consulted on studio construction and design. I work primarily in Pro Tools but I’m comfortable in Logic, Ableton, or on tape.

I write, record, and remix music as Beaunoise.

I spent six years as a staff engineer at Smart Studios in Madison, WI before leaving to work freelance. I am a staff engineer at John Vanderslice’s Tiny Telephone studio and spend a lot of time there, but I work at other studios as well. I love making records.
